Dr. Gerhard Weinberg delivers the Keynote Lecture at the Center-Co-organized Conference in Akko, Israel, March 2019 In his lecture entitled "The Holocaust, 75 Years After It Ended," Dr. Weinberg, the William Rand Kenan, Jr., Emeritus Professor of History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, discusses the state of the field of Holocaust Studies, past accomplishments, and future challenges. Weinberg, who had escaped Nazi Germany in 1938, also defends his "intentionalist" interpretations of the genesis of the Final Solution. Prof. Dan Michman, the Head of the International Institute for Holocaust Research, Yad Vashem, serves as chair and commentator. |
